French-Canadian Enlist!" educational kit
The aim is to familiarize students with the socio-cultural and historical context of the Great War, and more specifically with the reality of French-Canadians in 1914. This helps them better understand the creation of the Royal 22e Régiment, the first French-speaking unit in the country to fight overseas. The story is presented in booklet form, allowing students to put themselves in the shoes of a soldier at the time.
This educational kit is part of the Quebec and Canadian history curriculum. It enables students to acquire knowledge about the historical context of the Great War in Quebec and Canada, and, through the analysis of primary sources, to develop intellectual skills related to history. Activities enable students to establish and relate facts using the historical method, and to analyze a social reality.
