« Canadiens-Français, Enrôlez-vous! » (French-Canadians, Enlist!) Educational Kit
The objective is to familiarize students with the socio-cultural and historical context of the Great War, and more specifically the reality of French-Canadians in 1914. This allows for a better understanding of the creation of the Royal 22e Régiment, the first Francophone unit in the country to fight overseas. It is presented in the form of a booklet, allowing students to put themselves in the shoes of a soldier at the time.
This educational kit is part of the Quebec and Canadian history program. It allows students to acquire knowledge about the historical context of the Great War in Quebec and Canada and, through the analysis of primary sources, to develop their intellectual skills related to history. The activities allow students to establish and relate facts according to the historical method and to analyze a social reality.
