110 years of Royal 22e Régiment history
In 1914, during the First World War, the 22nd French-Canadian Battalion was created in response to popular demand. It enabled French Canadians to serve in their own language. Francophones from Canada and the United States joined the 22nd Battalion (now the Royal 22e Régiment) and went off to fight in Europe.
The permanent exhibition Je me souviens follows the epic story of the "22" through the defining moments of its 110-year history, and the lives of the soldiers who formed and continue to form this infantry unit.
La Citadelle: its history and architecture
One area is devoted to the history of the Citadelle de Québec, from the days of New France to the arrival of the Royal 22e Régiment on the site in 1920. The Citadelle's built military heritage is also showcased in the original vaults of the East Casemate, the historic building housing the Museum, and in the interpretive kiosks on the architecture of the Citadelle.
