Educational tours and workshops
La Citadelle offers educational tours and workshops adapted to different school levels, exploring the history of the first occupants as well as that of the Royal 22e Régiment, for an immersion in military heritage.

ON THE HEIGHTS OF CAP DIAMANT

Step into the daily lives of the Citadel's first occupants by exploring the fortress's iconic sites. This activity reveals the strategic importance of Quebec City and the unique character of the Citadel, the most important British fortress in North America. Through reproductions of objects and uniforms, discover the professions and lifestyle of 19th-century British soldiers and officers!

Target audience: 3rd cycle of primary school

Topics covered: Geography, history and heritage 

Duration: 60 minutes (20-minute educational workshop and 40-minute outdoor visit)

Educational kit available free of charge upon reservation for this activity

 

THE CITADEL AND CAPE DIAMOND (90 minutes)

This activity format allows you to take the educational tour on the heights of Cap-Diamant as well as explore the entire Citadel. The tour lasts 90 minutes and includes an educational workshop, allowing you to handle and observe replicas of 19th - century objects and uniforms, visit historic buildings, and admire the spectacular view of Quebec City and the St. Lawrence River.

 

ON THE MARCH: THE 22ND BATTALION IN THE GREAT WAR

Transport yourself to 1914, the time of the First World War, and discover the creation of the 22nd French-Canadian Battalion through artifacts, soldiers' life stories, and reproductions of period objects and uniforms. This activity immerses you in the military world of the First World War and the importance of Canada's and Francophones' participation in this conflict. 

Target audience: Secondary

Topics covered: History, citizenship education, Canada since the First World War

Duration: 60 minutes (educational workshop and 45-minute museum tour and 15-minute outdoor tour)

TOWARDS VICTORY! THE ROYAL 22E RÉGIMENT IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR

‍‍Deepenyour knowledge of the Second World War by following in the footsteps of those who lived through it. This activity recounts the Royal 22e Régiment's participation in the Italian campaign and the liberation of the Netherlands. Discover the evolution of military tactics and the reality of the Canadian military with reproductions of uniforms and observation of a tank.

Target audience: Secondary school

Topics covered: History, citizenship education, Canadian identity and culture, Canada in the Second World War

Duration: 60 minutes (educational workshop and 30-minute museum tour and 30-minute outdoor tour)
