Developed by the Royal 22e Regiment Museum, the exhibition commemorated the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. It highlights the human experience during this pivotal period in history. Through the perspectives of soldiers, prisoners, wounded, and nurses, this exhibition allows visitors to relive the significant events of the end of this major conflict and the return to peace. These men and women experienced a range of emotions, tinged with discouragement and fear, but also hope and joy. Having departed into the unknown, they returned changed into a world forever transformed.
Through their correspondence, period photographs, personal objects, and trench art, visitors will be immersed in the heart of this period of transition and great upheaval. Although the armistice was declared in 1918, the end of fighting, the return home, and reintegration into civilian life were challenging transitional stages for these front-line witnesses. This exhibition serves as a tribute to their courage and resilience.
